NIDA Debuts at ITU-T SG20 Q2 Meeting

[Shenzhen, March 10, 2026] Mr.Deng Yiou, Secretary-General of the Network Innovation and Development Alliance (NIDA), was invited to attend and address the meeting of Question 2 (Q2) of ITU-T Study Group 20 (SG20). Mr.Deng introduced NIDA's background, positioning, and operational progress. He stated that NIDA is dedicated to researching and formulating network architecture standards to assist vertical industries in building more innovative network infrastructures, thereby better supporting the innovation and development of their core business.

SG20 focuses on the framework and roadmaps for the harmonized and coordinated development of the Internet of Things (loT), including machine-to-machine (M2) communications ubiquitous sensor networks, and relevant emerging technologies, like edge computing, artificial intelligence (Al), machine learning (ML), blockchain, digital twins, metaverse, data processing and analytics orchestration and automation technologies, advanced sensing and actuation technologies, among others. Question 2/20 concentrates on the requirements, capabilities, and architectural frameworks of IoT and sustainable smart cities and communities across different verticals. It is a study group that sees significant participation from equipment manufacturers, industry enterprises, and other entities worldwide, as the standards it publishes play a crucial role in shaping the architectural frameworks for various vertical sectors within the global IoT and smart city & community landscape.

At this meeting, Mr.Deng also expressed that ITU-T SG20 and NIDA share significant relevance and complementarity in their research directions. He hoped to take this meeting as an opportunity to strengthen interaction and communication, and jointly explore cooperation opportunities in areas such as research on vertical industry demand scenarios and standard development.
